DRAFT VIDEO AND FEEDBACK

 
Things my target audience liked:
- My audience thought that the narrative was clear and easy to understand.
- They also believed that the locations reflected our genre well and were well lit.
- They thought that the actor matched the song and had a good presence.

Things we need to improve on:
- Our target audience said that the cutting needs to be cleaner. In particular the cutting to black in between clips. To solve this issue we will fill the gaps to prevent random cuts to a blank screen  
- They told us that some of the match cuts needed to fixed. For example, the door is shown opening twice when we should see the actor knocking on the door, then a cut to the door opening and then a cut back to the actor walking through the door. To fix this we will cut and arrange the clips so that we do not see the door opening twice
- My target audience said that we should try and fix unsteady camera work. If we are able to we will refilm clips that are unsteady or we will replace these clips with better footage   
- They also thought that some of the lip synching needs to be fixed up. To solve this we will look over the clips and recut some of our footage so that we can sync the clips to the audio better   

EDITING

Today we added more clips into the music video. We had a lot of gaps and we wanted to make the video flow better. we have a lot of good footage that we want to use so we will included the relevant clips 

FILMING DAY

Today we finished filming. We filmed some more shots of the artist and his partner at south bank and then we filmed at Kings cross light tunnel. We got shots of the artist walking through the tunnel and he looking directly at the camera. we wanted to get some close ups so that we could see his facial expressions

EDITING

Today one of my group memebers send me a clip showing how some of our footage looked grainy. These clips are out of focus so we will have to refilm or replace these clips with other footage 

FILMING DAY

Today we filmed some more shots at Southbank. we filmed the parts where the artsist is waiting for his partner and she never comes. we also filmed some shots of the artist and the partner walking around, looking over at the water and talking to each other

EDITING

Today we continued editing our music video and started to work on the narrative. This has been the easiest part of the editing because we already planned the narrative in our storyboard. So far the lip syncing has been a struggle. This because we want the lip syncing to be as accurate as possible so we are trying to get it as neat as possible

Today we started editing the montage. we are so far following the storyboard and cutting between the clips of the couple together and the clips of the actor in the studio. The only think that we have changed so far is the duration of each clip in the montage. In the storyboard we said each clip would be half a second but when we started editing we realised that wouldn't be long enough for you to see what is happening in the clip. we want the clip to be fast but we still want the audience to understand what is going on. 

FILMING DAY

We got some more shots of our actor lip syncing. We still used the red lighting but used a red board instead of the wall for the background. I liked the affect that this gave but the board is not big enough for the mid shots. 

FILMING DAY

Today we started filming in the TV studio. We focused on filming the lip syncing with shots. We also experimented with placing colour sheets over the light. We used red because it can symbolise love and anger.

Today we filmed the part of the narrative where the actor and his partner have the argument in the house. we got shots of the artist's partner putting on make up and shots of the text messages on her phone

TEAM MEETING

Today we have decided that we are going to film in the TV studio after college. We are going to continue filming the lip syncing shots started on Wednesday.  

FILMING DAY

Today we filmed a lot of lip syncing around Southbank and at the skatepark. We wanted to see what lip syncing on location would look like so we tried it. Although it was dark outside the most of the areas we filmed at were well lit so the footage came out well. For some of the footage we will have to colour correct it when we are editing.  

TEAM MEETING

Today we have decided that we are going to book the TV studio at lunch time to do more lip synching. After today we have enough footage to start editing 

FILMING DAY

We have planned to film at Southbank today. We will start filming the shots with the artist and his girl friend. We will also try to get some location shots.
