WORKING ON THE POSTER

In today's lesson, I finished my advertisement poster. I changed the album name to "walking at dawn" so that I could mention the name of the single that we make the video for. I presented the single as "the #1 global smash" because this the type of language that posters use. I kept the 3 colour scheme from the album so all the print products link together. I kept the all the text centred and mostly white which is similar to how I made the album. I included the conventions like the artist's website, record label website and the logos for the label and the distribution company.

WORKING ON THE CD

In today's lesson I made the CD. I decided to keep it simple and not add a picture of the artist. I included the right and distribution around the CD because this a convention that all CDs have. I made the text go in around the edge because I think that this is a neater way to present it.

This the text around the CD. Made this text grey so that it would not be as noticeable. I wanted the artist name and album in white so that it stands out against the black CD. Included the logo of the artists record label as this is a convention that many CDs follow

WORKING ON THE INSERTS

Today I made the inserts for the album. to continue with my simple theme I kept the insert for the CD goes plain. It's as red to black gradient that I cut from on the background of one of the photos from the second photo shoot. For the other insert, I just used another image from the second photo shoot and include the name of the name of the artist and the album

WORKING ON THE POSTER

Today I continued working on my poster and made some changes. I added the website for the artist and the record label. This is a convention that I have seen on many advertisement posters. Before I the red text said "available everywhere" and I changed this to "available on all music streaming services." I did this because nowadays albums are first released for streaming and then a few physical copies are sold later. Also, people in my target audience are most likely to likely to stream albums than to buy them.

WORKING ON THE BACKCOVER

Today I finished the back cover for my album. I changed my mind and decided that I was not going to include an image of my artist. Instead of having the tracklist at long the bottom I made it into a list down the centre. I did this because I wanted all the text to be centred like on the front cover. I mentioned the executive producers of the album because I saw this in my case study for Tinashe's Aquarius album and Drake's Take care album. I followed the layout that was on drakes album where the executive producers were listed underneath the tracklist in a line. I think that this was the best way to include this convention and making it go with the centred layout that I was going for. A barcode, the distributor and record label logos were included because they are album conventions.

WORKING ON THE POSTER

Today I decided to change the layout of my poster. I took the the album cover off of the poster because I just wanted to include the text with important information. I am going to keep all the text and logos centred like I did for the album cover and the back cover.

WORKING ON THE FRONT COVER

In today's lesson, I started working on my front cover. I am going to keep the cover really simple and only include the artist name, title of the album and an image of the artist

WORKING ON THE BACKCOVER

Today, I continued working on the back cover. I used a photo from the second photoshoot we did. I got the paragraph text from the Drake tale care album. it states the manufacturer and the rights reserved.

SECOND PHOTOSHOOT

Today we did another photo shoot with the red light. I think that this photo shoot reflects the genre of the song. I will now use these photos because it links to our pitch ideas

BTS OF SECOND PHOTOSHOOT

Today we did the second photoshoot in the TV studio.

WORKING ON THE POSTER

Today I started making my poster. I think that I am going to include the album cover on the poster so that the audience would know what it looks like. I saw that lots of posters for other artists did this so I will try this

WORKING ON THE SPINE

Today I finished making the spine to my CD. The font and back cover will continue the theme of having the red at the top fading into black at the bottom. The record label and distribution logos are included on the spine because it is a common convention and all my case studies did this. the serial code is always on album spine so I made sure that I included that. I made the sure that the logos were facing the same direction as the artist/album name so that overall look of the spine is neat.

WORKING ON THE BACK COVER

Today I experimented with different ways to fade the image of my artist on the back cover. This is the original photo I used and it was taken in the photography studio.
In photoshop, I brightened the image and faded the edges. I used the gradient tool to achieve the faded edges.

This is the end result. I think that if I make the faded edges neater I could potentially use this way to include images on my back cover

I tried another way by removing the background using the magic selection tool.

I found that this way did not give a nice effect and looked very unprofessional.

DRAFT LAYOUT FOR PRINT PRODUCTS

This is a very basic plan for my album print products. I will be red, black and white as my main colours. I am planning to have an image of the artist on the backcover.

FIRST PHOTOSHOOT

Today we did a photoshoot. We took these pictures without the red filter to see how it looks. The pictures came out well but we are going to do anther photoshoot with the red filter over the light and with a black background. We think that this would link to our pich and music video better

WORKING ON THE CD SPINE

In today's lesson, I started working on the spine of my CD. I included conventions such as the logo of my artist's record label and a serial code. I want to keep the fonts simple to support my overall theme of simplicity. I made my text white to continue it stands out from the black.
